The Free Staters have played for a variety of occasions and events including town and state historical celebrations, historical societies, Civil War reenactments & dances, Victorian Tea gatherings, Valentine Banquets, civic and county functions, graduation parties, private parties, weddings, church meetings, coffee houses, restaurants and schools.

We dress in period correct clothing and play period correct instruments or reproductions of those instruments. We strive to look and sound like we stepped out of the past and into the present.

Our rates depend largely on the type of function, length of performance and distance traveled.

The Free Staters have been selected to the Kansas Arts Commission's Kansas Artists on Tour Program beginning fiscal year July 1, 2006.If your group or organization is a not-for-profit entity (501c3), you might be eligible for grant monies through. To find out more, please visit the KAC's website.
